"Thank you so much for your outstanding video on my Dad. He really opened up to you and told stories I've never heard before. The video was very professional and everyone who sees it is impressed. Our family will enjoy this for many years to come." --Edward Mullian, Grand Rapids, MI

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to memorize my answers?

No, you don’t have to memorize your answers, since that wouldn't sound very natural during the interview. We can stop and start the taping at any point, so there is no pressure to “get it right” the first time. If you don’t like a particular answer, we can re-take your response.

What should I wear?

Choose clothing that is comfortable but not too distracting to the eye. You will be seated during the interview, so plan more for “waist-up” appearance than waist-down. Medium-tone colors such as light blue, soft yellow or lavender, grey, tan or green would be fine. Busy patterns, stripes or plaid, bright white or red fabrics, or “statement” clothing with words should be avoided. We will discuss your choice beforehand, but you may want to have one or two alternates ready on the day of your taping.

What should I have with me at the taping session?

Gather whatever you’d like to show on camera such as photos, awards, trophies, special jewelry or other mementos. Also bring items that will help jog your memory such as maps, journals or diaries, newspaper clippings, books, letters, etc.

What about music?

Music adds an important dimension to your video. We provide royalty-free music from our CD library at no extra charge. As an option, we offer custom soundtrack music for a more personal touch. We respect all copyright restrictrions on recorded music. Please call us for more details.

How long will the videotaping session last?

The videotaping session will last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on how long you want your final video to be. We will take breaks whenever necessary for comfort or convenience. Unless other arrangements are made, all videotaping will take place in one session.

How long will the final video be?

The final video will depend on the length of the taping session and the options you choose before we begin. Videos for businesses or organizations may be shorter or longer depending on the use.

How long does the editing process take?

Editing the video usually takes from one to three weeks. You’ll receive a proof copy to review for any changes. Final videos are usually available about a week later. Start to finish, the entire process usually takes four weeks or less.
