Our Story...

Senior Moments Video Lifestories is based on the premise that saving the memories of those who came before us offers great lessons, insights, and understanding. I consider it a privilege to help families preserve their stories and in this way stay connected across the generations.

Having lost my dad when I was 12, I grew up missing his wonderful humor, his charm, and the wise answers he had to just about any question I could ask. Later, I had the opportunity to record my mom’s life story before she passed away, and the stories of her four brothers and sisters. There are only two left now.

Then I met Harry. We called him “Uncle Harry,” though the only family connection was that he came from my grandmother’s town in Armenia. Born in 1895, Harry was a great storyteller and I always wanted to record those stories before it was too late. I kept putting it off until one day I paid attention to a quiet inner voice that kept saying, “Don’t wait..."

I interviewed him just three weeks before his 106th birthday and I'm glad I did. Because on that day as he was getting ready for his party, he peacefully slipped away. It was a shock, because even though he was 106, he was in good health and his mind was clear. Although sad, I was very grateful that I had listened to that inner voice.

The 30-minute video that came from that interview went on to take first place documentary in the film and video competition of the Festival of the Arts and was later broadcast on PBS station WGVU. (See a sample clip in the Gallery.)

That experience led me to conclude that we’re all on a journey, one moment at a time. These moments add up to a full life, if we're lucky, and the essence of who we are can extend beyond a life span when we recall and share the family stories that make us unique.

My passion is to help you create your own legacy by celebrating the moments of your life, both milestone and common, because there are lessons to be learned from both. I hope that if you listen to your own inner voice, you'll know what to do...

Don't wait.
